Day 265

[reading: Bovet & Cesati, "Understanding the Linux Kernel"]

Note to self: don't play a computer game for several hours just before going to bed if you want to get any sleep.

Or watch news specials on Alzheimer's or greenhouse-gas climate change.

I'm usually OK with those sort of things; there's so much doom and gloom out there that I think I've been de-sensitized. ("The ice caps are melting! Everyone's going to die of AIDS! Asteroid strike is going to wipe out the earth! Giant badgers gone feral are eating everyone!")

With the gaming thing, I find myself re-running puzzles from the game in my head, and dreaming in 1024x768 computer graphics. Not really conducive to a good night's sleep.

That's right! I forgot that I couldn't play Tetris as a child because I would see the falling shapes whenever I closed my eyes. I don't think I could match up with anyone for LAN party games. I have such crummy reflexes and coordination in those situations.

Yeah, I've had the Tetris-dreaming thing on occasion; it's a bit disturbing.
